I can't help but wonder- Where are these bright, new, innovative ideas that'll be bringing astounding changes to DA? It's been well over a year since DA's rebranding and the most drastic changes we've seen so far were a new logo (initiating the changes) and a watch feature that no longer seems to exist (you know, the one with all the new featured colors). The DA Timeline
even shows there hasn't been any real updates as of yet in 2016 (We're seven months in)! The 'weekly' site updates and news seemed to have stopped a few months ago, if not longer, I STILL can't add a header image to my profile on the mobile app, it looks so dismal without it.
I admit I'm a little miffed because I was looking forward to these changes. It was exciting. I've been here since 2003 and I feel this site could use the updated overhaul. I'm looking forward to sleeker profiles, the vibrant layouts, just- guh- CHANGE. I even thought a cool suggestion would be to have a toggle option to mark a profile 'artist' or 'watcher' of some sort (maybe the profiles could even look/behave differently if you're just a watcher).
I've felt both love and disgust for this site. I've seen a lot of things since I joined. From DA version 3, to the spyed and jark 'war' of 2005, the closing of the DA shop, as well as most things up until now. I've met a lot of people on this site in my time on here, I've seen them grow, I've seen them change, seen them come and go.
While I tend to be overly nostalgic, missing the days that, after school, I was excited to hang out on DA and AIM, talking to my internet buddies for hours; change NEEDS to happen. I fear if DA doesn't change, it'll become stagnant. It might not vanish, but it'll certainly rot. The world of the internet is very crowded, it's getting faster and it will only continue to do so, especially since the mobile age and I'm hoping DA can keep up.
I can't help but notice the slower traffic profiles seem to get, less comments, less favorites, less visits, less prints being sold (unless you're one of the highlighted, like Artgerm or Sakimichan). Perhaps this is because of the speed/crowding of the internet or maybe people are searching for a new pasture to play in, maybe I should too.
